Lynn is a member of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America, Inc. We value our reputation as reputable Hobby Breeders. We don’t breed for show or pet quality. We breed for health and temperament. Show puppies are pets first.
All of the dogs shown in the pictures below we have bred. Living with us now are Monet, Paige, Crosby and Doree. Our puppies are carefully placed in what we consider “good” puppy homes.
Before buying a puppy from any breeder, make sure they have explained the protein losing waste diseases that affect 15-20% of the Wheaten population. It is know as PLE/PLN to you. It is a life threatening problem. All Wheatens are susceptible to it. Proper screening through blood tests and urinalysis and urine protein creatnine ratio should be done on all Wheatens whether pets or show dogs. A good breeder should be able to furnish this information to you upon request.
Before breeding, both the Sire and Dam should have OFA or Penn-Hip and Cerf certificates ( Hip and eyes). They are given numbered certificates if they pass. Both the Sire and Dam should have current lab panels done. Both should have excellent temperaments. If the stud dog is on the premises, that should be a red flag until you can verify pedigrees. The above is minimum. Many good breeders go beyond the above to insure a healthy litter.
